GOVERNMENTS MUST DISSOLVE NOW

SAPP urges both the BN and Pakatan governments to dissolve their respective legislatures so that the general elections can be held within the 60-day period as provided for under the constitutions.
This is because the long delay in having the elections is causing a fatigue in Malaysian society, triggering an economic slowdown with many investment decisions being held back and many people and organisations putting back their programmes pending the elections.
"With the assurance of the Election Commission chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof that the 'Ops Daulat' at Lahad Datu is not a problem to holding the general elections, there is no valid excuse for either the BN or Pakatan governments not to dissolve the legislatures.
The 5-year mandate granted to the current government on 8 March 2008 has already expired. The longer the delay, the more people are entitled to think that there are ulterior motives of "abusing powers and money raising" by the ruling parties at both federal and state levels.
The eleventh hour approval and signing of the RM8 billion mega infrastructure project by the Penang government last week is one example.
