An investigation report into Bannu police station attack

BANNU: An investigation report into Bannu police station attack revealed that five burqa-clad terrorists attacked the office of the district security branch inside the Old City Police Station, Geo News reported.

The Special Branch submitted the probe report to the Home Ministry. According to the details, five militants stormed the station, one blew himself up while another killed during the encounter.

The investigation report also said that two militants were wearing suicide jackets. Two vehicles and two motorcycles were also destroyed during the clash.

On Monday, the Bannu city was placed under curfew while the Army and Frontier Constabulary (FC) were called in when militants attacked the office of the district security branch in the Old City Police Station.

Sources said that three policemen suffered bullet wounds and five sustained minor injuries before the building was cleared. The armoury of the local police was also in the building.

The attackers entered the building after firing shots at the guard deployed at the main gate. They also fired at other cops inside the building. One of the wounded policemen was shifted to Peshawar while others were being treated in Bannu, he added.

The police building was attacked at around 9:30am while it was cleared at 1:00pm, the official said. Bannu District Police Officer Waqar Ahmad told the reporters that the Army and Frontier Constabulary (FC) were called out when the exchange of fire between the police and attackers was going on.
